An article in yesterday's HaAretz highlights the American dilemma about whether to begin to include Damascus in any solution to the current crisis in Lebanon.
The author, a former Israeli ambassador to the US, argues that despite calls to end Syria's isolation, the time is not yet ripe. Syria would demand a re-opening of discussions on the return of the Golan. This is too high a price for America and Israel right now.
