Syrian casualties - an overview of the figures for the week ending 10th September

This report is the latest in our series on Syria. Today’s report is in two parts:
1)       NCF Casualty estimates and
2)       All other Casualty estimates. The second half of this latter report is extensive that we have only included the summary here under the title “Casualties in more detail”. The full background by region of Syria can be accessed on the NCF Syria blog on the following link: FULL CASUALTY FIGURES

Casualties – The NCF casualty estimates

We are now using the Violations Documenting Centre (VDC) figures for civilian casualties as this source consistently publishes reports of identified casualties (including names of victims), with only a handful unidentified. We feel that this source gives the most reliable insight into the extent of the casualty damage at this stage of the conflict when compared to others that only identify a small minority.

Those killed in the past week

The number of civilian casualties has dropped from the levels recorded the previous week.
